An icon of the 1960s African-American Civil Rights Movement, Congressman John Lewis was one of 13 original Freedom Riders, a leader in the historic 1963 march on Washington, D.C., and is the only surviving member of the "Big Six," a coalition of civil rights leaders including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
With writer Andrew Aydin and illustrator Nate Powell, Congressman Lewis released "March," a series of historical graphic novels documenting the civil rights era. All three speakers will be present at the event.
Tickets are free through the IU Auditorium (details TBA). More information at http://thepowerofwords.info.
